Aroma Therapy.

Everyday (ok, most days), my thoughts, emotions, and restless soul make way to the kitchen to start what I call Aroma Therapy.  Those of you who know me, know I love to cook.  And let's just be honest, EAT!  But on Saturdays all my boys are home, so at around noon I start the weekend meal.  I hear them laughing and playing with my husband and there is always sports on the big screen filling the house with a sound that makes my heart leap with pure love.  I usually have no idea what I'm going to cook, unless one of my relatives or foodie friends has introduced me to something I cannot and will not live without.  So I just start cooking.  And my imagination takes over.  And  my stresses and hurts are lifted away with my ladle.  As I am transformed into my own creative world, a truly amazing thing begins to happen; the spices blend and the ingredients fill the air with the aroma of my art.  The boys begin to trickle in from outside as well as neighboring children to smell and lament of their hunger.  Usually there are three to five recipes going at a time, so they choose their favorite and sit down at our table and in front of the game on the television. I hear nothing but silverware and sports.  In these moments, we are connected.  By food.  By love.  By friendship.  The air is filled with what I can only explain as Aroma Therapy.  And we are healed.

Table for 4.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would write a blog, but here it is.  In all it's glory (insert sarcasm here).  But, you know, I was thinking about it and I really wanted to share pieces of my life that seem exciting or fun or helpful.  And I'm not going to follow any kind of writing style.  I'm going to write like I talk, which is typically one big run on sentence with fragments of structure.

So first, let's get the “ABOUT ME" out of the way.....and make it quick.  I am married with two little boys.  They are truly the Joy of my life.  I love art in any and all forms.  I love my family and I love art, that's me in a nutshell.  My artistic talent seems to be expressed through cooking.  I LOVE TO COOK.  I also really like painting, but this is not an art form I have mastered.  But, cooking.....cooking, I have figured out.  In fact, I was born to be in the very least an "ok" chef.  My mom whipped up masterpieces from scratch almost everyday of my life and I can still remember my grandmother (apron on, singing to herself) in front of the stove all day making one of her German-polish concoctions. (See I told you, run ons)  But who cares as long as you enjoy the content.  That's how I feel about cooking too.  Sometimes you look at the recipe and think to yourself; surely these things do not go together in one dish?  Ah, but they do.  AND it works.  AND it's great. So this blog will be about my family, food, art, and how all of it fits together into a recipe for life...... and a table for 4.
